Christmas is HERE!

I have my own little Christmas tree forest in my room.  In love with my gnome and birds.(Gnome from Earth Bound Trading, birds from Antique store, tree from Hobby Lobby, ornaments from Target.)

Went to Santa Land with friends, met a cool snowman.

Can I just say I love my rommate?

Myself, Jordan, Rachael, Hannah and Zoey at Santa Land!

I made a new Christmas wreath for our front door. HO HO HO! Tutorial found here!

Our main Christmas tree in the living room.

In non-Christmas spirit I got my SFA ring! AXE EM JACKS!

At the Christmas parade, Emily, myself and Kendal

The Christmas season is off to a great start!  I finished up my finals and am going to Shreveport to gamble my life away next weekend and  can't wait!  Love this time of year and the break from school!

It's beginning to look a lot like...

CHRISTMAS!

My favorite time of year is almost here! In ONE week I will be home to Dallas to see my family (WOO HOO, NO INTERN FOR THIS LUCKY GIRL!) for Thanksgiving.

But until then I have homework to do, papers to write and kids to help teach.  But I have become a procrastinator so making some fun holiday decor sounded a lot more fun.  I am sure I will regret that decision come tomorrow...Any whoo! I spent a few hours this weekend making a wreath for my roommate Jordan and I's front door, bye-bye to our school spirit HELLLOOOOOO Christmas!

 The materials I used:

  • Red Heart brand Teal yarn (used less than half a roll)
  • Navy blue ribbon
  • Glitter and Disco ball ornaments, both big and mini (Dollar section at Target, got some extras to match our indoor tree!)
  • Light bulb ornaments (Hobby Lobby)
  • Hot Glue
  • Tacks
  • Christmas Card
  • Laminator (optional!)
  • Wreath form (16")

How to:

  1. Wrap the form in yarn. I am not too picky and like a less formal look so a little bit messy and thick is fine by me.
  2. Locate the best place to put your ornaments
  3. Hot glue a tack to the back of each large ornament and practice how to arrange them, I tried avoiding putting the disco next to disco and glitter next to glitter or similar colors next to one another.
  4. Once you are happy with each some may be wobbly so add a dab of hot glue behind and between them to keep them in place
  5. Take your small ornaments and place them in the gaps between the larger ones
  6. Once you are happy with the arrangement use a dab of hot glue and place them there permanently
  7. Take the light bulbs, or other small objects and layer them as well
  8. For the Christmas card section I put a card and a printed message through my laminator
  9. I then hot glued 2 tacks to the back, see below so that I can use that message or another to the wreath, perhaps a cute front door countdown to Christmas in the future?
  10. Lastly, get your ribbon and using a generous length tie it to the top-center
  11. I hook mine to the back of the door, to prevent stealing and so you can't see the hook from the outside

Fall is in the Air...Well at Least on the Porch.

It is OFFICIALLY Autumn! It doesn't feel like it here in Texas but that doesn't mean I can't...DECORATE!

Here is the how to for the Crayon Pumpkin,(Which I'm wholeheartedly in love with!)

1) Pick out a large pumpkin! Mine leans outward so you can easily see the dramatic top.

2) Spray pain the pumpkin. I used some white, gloss spray paint I had laying around. Any color would work though, just play around.  I did two coats and made sure I got the base really well, which was tricky.

3) Pick out some Crayons...Crayola to be specific.  Our wreath is Purple and White so I went with blues and purples.

4) I used about 10 half pieces of crayons...so I used 5 crayons in total.  I hot glued them in a star-burst pattern around the top from the stem.

5) Then on top of a tarp, OUTSIDE, I turned on my blow dryer to its fastest, hottest setting and worked around the pumpkin leaning the pumpkin to get it to fall in different directions.

6) Let it dry!

TA-DA!  Beautiful and fun!
I used a metallic silver on the Pie Pumpkin and some glossy Purple on the mini pumpkins just to add to the theme.

Roomies + Tiny Apartments

Overall I have fared pretty well when it comes to roommates, my first one left for home after the first year and we don't talk but I'll always have those hilarious bed jumping, dancing and singing memories.  She partied a bit more than I liked and had her fair share of boys in our room but other than that...fine?  She is back on track and going to Texas Tech now!

My next one was a bit...uptight...and super, scary Christian, like can't take a dirty joke, Shrek is too non-christian for her Christian.  (I love Jesus just as much as the next guy, don't get me wrong!)  I was too wild for her and yet I'm not wild...at all.

Then my Christian roomie and I moved in with a little pixie who never showed her face and an opinionated, hilarious red head that I am still friends with.  Luckily we all had our own room, no matter how small it was.

I now live with my birthday twin Jordan (@jordanlacaille) in an actual apartment. NO DORM FOR THIS GIRL!  And its like heaven.

The whole point of this though is to say how excited I am that in year I am determined to live on my own.  NO ROOMMATE!  I don't care if it is a tiny study or something somewhat shady.  Having my own place to decorate, with no input from roommates and I can be as OCD as I want is thrilling.

I am kind of a Pinterest addict so I have been brainstorming over there...take a look...

Twenty-ONE!

Yes folks, I have survived and made it to my 21st year.  My fabulous roommate also happens to share my birthday, although I am a few hours older, so we had a fabulous party in our tiny apartment with just a few friends, and by a few I mean...like THIRTY?

It was a good night from what I remember...enjoy the pictures.
